Butterscotch™ Bluestar (Amsonia)

Butterscotch™ Bluestar (Amsonia) is an easygoing, long-lived, and substantial perennial in the milkweed family that bears clusters of starry, powder-blue flowers just as spring turns to summer. Plants are exceptionally fine-textured, composed of many unbranched stalks arising from a single base and covered with elegant, willow-like leaves. This cultivar, known for its superior, dense form and vivid fall color, makes a superb textural addition, filler, or contrast in garden beds between upright neighbors or those with large leaves, with which it contrasts beautifully. Amsonia hubrichtii is native to the Eastern US and appreciates regular irrigation in more xeric, Western haunts. Best in soils of acidic or relatively neutral pH.
