Ben Nevis Rock Rose (Helianthemum nummularium 'Ben Nevis') is an especially showy Helianthemum, with its golden-orange, red centered flowers that bloom in late spring/early summer. This selection has green foliage and a nice spreading habit. The rockrose family (Helianthemum, includes a number of brilliantly colored flowering plants that are valued in waterwise landscapes as evergreen groundcovers. Plant Helianthemum in most any soil, including clay in a full or partial sun exposure. In cold climates where the soil freezes hard in winter, find a planting spot that gets winter shade to protect the foliage from winter burn. Companion plants include English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), Catmint (Nepeta) and yellow Yarrow (Achillea).
