Texas Blazing Star (Liatris)

24-30” tall, 18” wide. Liatris mucronata is a large, showy Blazing Star. This liatris species blooms in late summer with an amazing display of tall, lavender-pink flowers that attract butterflies and other pollinators. Our variety comes from the plains of northern TX and is a more xeric choice than L. ligulistylus and L. aspera and is best for drier planting sites. Texas Blazing Star is a resilient species native to the hot, humid regions of the south-central US like TX, OK and the southern Great Plains. Leave standing over winter to provide seeds for birds. Cut back in mid-spring.
